Fall Tasting: An Evening of Cheese, Tea, Honey, Bread & Linens

Celebrate the start of the autumn season with a guided tasting from local producers featuring tea, cheese, and bread at Cuttalossa, a textile shop in historic Old City, Philadelphia.

Alex Jones of Collective Creamery will offer four artisan cheeses crafted by women cheesemakers at Birchrun Hills Farm and Valley Milkhouse that will be featured in the Fall-Winter Collective Creamery cheese subscription. Alexis Siemons, tea consultant of teaspoons & petals, will steep and share four fall-inspired teas, one to pair with each cheese. Alex Bois, the James Beard Award-nominated baker of Lost Bread Co., will share freshly baked breads, and we'll enjoy herb-infused honeys from Berks County's Furnace Creek Farm. Alex, Alexis and Alex will guide us through the fall tasting, offering stories and details about these handcrafted foods along the way. Guests will be gifted their petite porcelain tea cup at the end of the event.

Learn to paint with natural dyes on silk with natural dyer and textile artist Elizabeth McTear of Honest Alchemy.

In this 2 hour workshop, students will initially experiment with pigments on scrap fabric, learning how to manipulate color and play with making different marks to build their personal visual language before making their final scarf. Instructions and recipes of the dyes will be provided for home use.

Natural dyestuffs are sourced from reputable natural dye companies: Botanical Colors, Maiwa Supply and Aurora Silks.

This workshop will take place on April 2, 2016 at Meadowsweet.
